Nathan English

SENIOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Nathan is a passionate and dedicated physiotherapist with a diverse background in sports rehabilitation and strength and conditioning coaching.

 

Nathan is currently the physiotherapist and strength and conditioning coach for a top 50 ATP tennis player, providing comprehensive care to optimise performance and prevent injuries.

 

His prior experience includes serving as the Head Physiotherapist for the Logan Thunder NBL1 Men's and Women's teams, as well as the strength and conditioning coach for the U/16 Burleigh Bears.
 

With a personal background in competitive tennis at the national level and a deep love for all sports, Nathan brings a unique perspective to his practice, understanding the demands and intricacies of athletic performance.

 

Holding a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science along with a Masters of Physiotherapy, Nathan is committed to ongoing learning and staying abreast of the latest advancements in sports medicine.

Maartje Torij (Tory)

APA TITLED SPORTS AND EXERCISE PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Maartje is a Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist with 20 years’ experience working in a range of clinical settings, 10 of which have been spent developing the strength and conditioning of elite athletes in sports programs at both the national and international level.

 

In Australia, Maartje has experience working with a broad range of organisations and athletes including Tennis Australia, NRL, Rugby Australia, AFL, NBL1, Football Victoria, Masters Games, and national swimmers.

 

Internationally she has worked with athletes and teams in rugby, football, hockey, and European handball.

 

Her creativity and versatility of practice allow her to determine the most efficient and specific movement patterns for every client she treats, whilst they undertake recovery, rehabilitation and strengthening & conditioning for their chosen sport or activities.

Maartje has a special interest in adolescent health with a strong focus on education, sports injury prevention, and rehabilitation, stating:

 

“These are the foundation years for developing positive health practices, which set individuals up with the appropriate habits and coping strategies enabling lifelong sporting participation”

 

Maartje also has an interest in lower limb injuries and post-operative conditions and thrives on working in high-performance environments. She has a personal interest in strength & conditioning and running, and she enjoys working within a team to achieve the best possible outcomes for everyone she treats.

Alex McMullin

SENIOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Alex's professional experience includes working with the Brisbane Lions AFLW team as a sports trainer, head physiotherapist for Volleyball Queensland for the U14-U18 Beach Volleyball Nationals, provided coverage for Queensland Beach Volleyball Tour events and has also worked closely with junior ice hockey and soccer development programs providing strength and conditioning coaching.

Prior to completing his physiotherapy degree, Alex worked as an Exercise Scientist and Program Coordinator at a sport medicine clinic. His role as program coordinator was to facilitate a knee rehabilitation program designed for individuals who had undergone knee surgery or sustained a lower extremity injury.

 

Alex also brings with him a wealth of experience from spending four years as an elite athlete with the Australian Men’s Junior and Senior National Volleyball teams.

 

Alex has always had a passion for sport which is reflected in his interest for treating athletes from a variety of individual and team sports. His experience both as an elite athlete and as a clinician allows him to develop tailored rehabilitation and treatment plans that encompass both injury prevention and management and performance enhancement.

AARON TURNBULL

PRINCIPAL PHYSIOTHERAPIST | STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Aaron is the founder and Head Physiotherapist here at Game Time Physiotherapy. During his training, Aaron gained invaluable experience with several rugby teams, including the Auckland Under 18 Rugby Union Team and the New Zealand Warriors. Coming from a rugby union and gym background, Aaron is passionate about sports physiotherapy and gym-based rehabilitation for athletes of all levels.
Since moving to Brisbane at the start of 2016, Aaron has worked with:

  • South Side Aquatics

  • Carina Leagues Club Tigers (Physio/S&C)

  • Bulimba Bulldogs Rugby League

  • Southside Eagles FC

Outside of work, Aaron enjoys CrossFit and staying fit, as well as trying his best to play golf with mates. Aaron is currently enrolled at the University of Bath (UK), studying a Masters or Sports Physiotherapy, striving to become the head physiotherapist of an NRL side in the near future.

CHRIS DILLON

APA TITLED SPORTS AND EXERCISE PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Chris graduated UQ’s Physiotherapy program in 2002 and has worked in Private Practice in Brisbane since 2004 after some time overseas. Chris attained his post graduate sports degree in 2006, and is an accredited APA Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist.⁣

Since then, he has worked with several teams across a range of sports including community level swimming and AFL as well as elite development pathways in Rugby Union, Cricket, BMX and Football.⁣

Chris spent several years as head Physio for Easts Rugby Union and worked concurrently in roles with Australian Rugby Union and the Reds Academy and u21 programs. In this environment, 

Chris was exposed to a significant number of traumatic upper and lower limb injuries and enjoys the challenges of knee and shoulder reconstruction rehabilitation.⁣

Chris has now over 15 years of experience dealing with junior and aspiring professional athletes which has ultimately nurtured a particular interest in adolescent athletic development and a strong desire to prevent injury through physical screening and injury prevention programming.⁣

Chris is currently the Physiotherapist for Churchies’ first XI Football Program.⁣ When trying to unwind, Chris enjoys photography, martial arts and spending time with family and friends.⁣

Matthew Marmin

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Matt is a strength and conditioning coach who has worked across multiple sport performance environments including rugby league, AFL, rugby sevens and rowing.

Matt is currently the Head of Performance for the semi-professional women’s program at Wynnum Manly Seagulls Rugby League.

Matt takes pride in developing strong athletes who are prepared for everything their sport throws at them and specialising in areas such as plyometrics, speed and rehabilitation.

Matt helps run our Performance Rehab sessions, as well as creating tailored programs for our athletes to ensure they're smashing their sporting goals! Learn more about our Athlete Development Programs below:

Jacob Condon

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Jacob has recently come onboard as our newest Performance Coach here at Game Time! Jacob is currently in his final year of a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at ACU  and has both his ASCA L1 & CrossFit Level 1 accreditations!

 

Jacob grew up playing rugby league and union, most recently playing for Easts Tigers. Jacob’s coaching experience includes working with rugby union and cricket athletes as an S&C coach at Iona and is currently coaching at Rebuild Health & Fitness (has been since January 2023). Jacob has done professional development on conditioning for team-sport athletes and will be undertaking the Game Time Academy mentorship to help with his knowledge of rehabilitation/return to play!

 

Outside of coaching, Jacob enjoys spending time at the coast and catching up with mates.
